Voting by Mail
In both Concord and Carlisle, vote‑by‑mail is an available option for all elections—and no reason is required.
- You must reapply every calendar year (even if you voted by mail last year).
- To apply, you can:
- Submit online via the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth's portal
- Download and mail, email, fax, or drop off the form:
- Pick up a paper form at:
- Concord Town Clerk, Concord Town House – 22 Monument Square
- Carlisle Town Clerk, Carlisle Town Hall – 66 Westford Street
Importat ballot application details: Your application must indicate which party’s ballot you want to receive, even if you are enrolled as an “independent” or “unenrolled.” Choosing a party’s ballot for the primary will not affect your party registration. If you do not select a party on your primary ballot application, you will not receive a primary ballot. Don’t forget to sign your application.
Early In‑Person Voting
- Offered in both towns (dates and hours vary—check with the Clerk’s office).
- Vote in person at:
- Concord Town House, 22 Monument Square (2nd floor)
- Carlisle Town Hall, 66 Westford Street (Clark Room)
Voting on Election Day
- Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM in both towns.
- Check your polling location—precincts may change due to redistricting.
Absentee Voting (For Specific Situations)
Absentee voting is an option if you can’t vote in person and missed the mail-in ballot deadline or don’t qualify for Vote-by-Mail in a local election.
You may vote absentee if you are out of town on Election Day, unable to vote in person due to illness, disability, or religious reasons, or hospitalized shortly before the election (emergency ballot).
Apply through your Town Clerk’s office and be sure to state your reason.
