For those who have elections on August 5th in their jurisdictions, please be aware of the following important dates.
Upcoming Key Dates for the August 5 Election:
Now: Vote in person, with an absentee ballot, at your city or township clerk’s office. Or, if you want to vote from home, request an absentee ballot online or submit a paper application. (If you want to vote from home, we recommend that you request your ballot no later than July 15 to give yourself enough time to receive your ballot, complete it, and return it to your city or township clerk by the deadline.)
July 21: Last day to register to vote online or by mail to vote in the August 5 Primary Election. (Starting July 22, you’ll need to register in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency.)
MichiganVoting.org’s Know Your Rights page has everything you need to know to make your voice heard in Michigan’s elections.
MyBallotMyPower.org is an exciting nonpartisan resource developed by Michigan Voices. By entering the address where you’re registered to vote at MyBallotMyPower.org, you can view what will be on your ballot in the August 5 Primary Election and learn more about the jobs and positions of candidates. This invaluable information will help you make an informed decision about who you’re voting for.
Once you decide which candidate in a race best matches your values you can “choose” that candidate. MyBallotMyPower.org will save it for you and move to the next race. Once you “choose” candidates and positions for each race, MyBallotMyPower.org will allow you to email yourself the results so you’re ready for the voting booth!
